April 2014 Calendar
SCNA MONTHLY MEET-UPS

Each month, SCNA hosts a monthly (clothed) dinner and discussion group at different public restaurants around the greater Los Angeles area. This is a way to introduce new people to naturism and to dispel mistaken impressions that non-nudists may have about us. This meeting is also a required pre-requisite before we can invite you to one of our clothing-optional parties. Anyone with a sincere interest in discussing naturist issues is welcome. This month's Meet-Ups:

San Fernando Valley: Tuesday April 8, 6:45PM – 8:30 PM
Pasadena/Glendale: Monday April 21, 6:45PM to 8:30PM
South Bay/Torrance: Thursday April 24, 6:45PM – 8:30 PM
Ventura County: Friday, April 11, 6:45PM – 8:30 PM
Carpinter/Santa Barbara: Tuesday, April 15, 6:45PM – 8:30 PM

NUDE BOWLING!
$ 20.00/PERSON (MUST BE PAID IN ADVANCE)

You asked for it, so you got it...again!

SCNA is hosting another of our semi-annual Nude Bowling events. We have rented out the entire alley for the event and it has complete privacy from the street. There will be nobody there but us for these 3 hours.

We have opened up this event to all our local clubs such as YNA, AANFA, NitOC, and the Olympian club to be sure we can get enough to cover our deposit.

The $20 required to attend (even if you don’t bowl), which is cheaper than if you went to a clothed bowling event and rented shows, ate, etc. The cost includes shoes.

This will be a pot luck event, with the bowling alley providing water, soft drinks, and beer and wine for a nominal sum. They have no kitchen or refrigerator available so all food you bring must be prepared in advance (bring a cooler if your food must be kept chilled.)

We will have prizes for best scores. More information and directions as we get closer to the event.

Important! We need a head count of who is coming as the have to limit the number of people to 50. We need the full name of any non-SCNA member at least 36 hours in advance as we have to check them theough the Megan's Law and FBI sexual predator databases.

PLEASE RSVP to SCNA at (818) 225-2273 or via email to scna@socalnaturist.org.

SATURDAY-SUNDAY, APRIL 12-13, Meet at 10:30 AM
Nude Hike/Camping Trip to Deep Creek
Location: Bowen Ranch, San Bernardino Mountains

SCNA in joining YNA (Young Naturists America), the Camping Bares and NitOC (the Orange County nudist club) in a joint event at Deep Creek hot springs. There is no charge for this event but you are responsible for your own camping equipment, food and drink to pack in (and to pack out any leftovers!) You may stay for Saturday only, or stay overnight along with perhaps 20 other nudists (the number we usually average on these trips.)

There is no tenting allowed near the springs. We hike in at around 10:30 am Saturday, and set up tent camping next to our cars overnight that evening after a great day at the springs. This makes it easy for day visitors to join the campers. $ 10 for overnight camping per person, $ 5 per person for daytime parking. pay at the Bowen Ranch entrance, exact change in envelope with license number, if no one there to collect your fees.

Because the 5-mi dirt road from the gate to the parking lot is in very poor condition, a 4-wheel drive truck or pickup is recommended but not required. RSVP early to (818) 225-2273 so we can get a head count and help with any car pooling, which we also recommend.

Note: Because Easter falls on Sunday, April 20 this year, the 5K Bare Burro Run event is pushed out one additional week than usual.

ANNUAL NUDE 5K BURRO RUN
Location: Olive Dell Nudist Ranch, Colton
Entrance Fee: $25

Olive Dell Nudist Park is hosting its annual Nude 5k “Burro Run,” open to all who wish to participate. Your SCNA gets you into the park so you can cheer on those energetic enough to run the developed course through the back hills.

More FAQ about the event:

  • Check-in starts at 9:30am, with the race beginning about 10:15 AM.
  • Dress code for the race: The actual race is run nude except for socks and gym shoes. Women may wear a sports bra. Be sure to bring a towel in case you want to wipe off or sit down.
  • Some may choose to walk the race instead of run - there will be a group doing so that you can join.
  • Spouse and partners may watch, and won't be required to get nude to do so.
There are still very nice cabins at Olive Dell available for the night before the race. Call Olive Dell at (909) 825-6619, and ask for Bobby.
