August 2014 Calendar
SCNA MONTHLY MEET-UPS

Each month, SCNA hosts a monthly (clothed) dinner and discussion group at different public restaurants around the greater Los Angeles area. This is a way to introduce new people to naturism and to dispel mistaken impressions that non-nudists may have about us. This meeting is also a required pre-requisite before we can invite you to one of our clothing-optional parties. Anyone with a sincere interest in discussing naturist issues is welcome. This month's Meet-Ups:

San Fernando Valley: Tuesday August 12, 6:45PM – 8:30 PM
Pasadena/Glendale: Monday August 18, 6:45PM to 8:30PM
South Bay/Torrance: Thursday August 28, 6:45PM – 8:30 PM
Ventura County: Friday, August 8, 6:45PM – 8:30 PM
Carpintera/Santa Barbara: Tuesday, August 19, 6:45PM – 8:30 PM

Directions to Bates

Saturday, August 16, NOON - 7 PM
BATES BEACH RALLY
LOCATION: SANTA BARBARA/VENTURA COUNTY LINE

For the past 10 years, the more-remote northern half of this beach is the best kept secret in the south county. We want to bring back the clothing-optional fun that used to be common there. If you agree, come on down to Bates and show your support! Bring your own picnic supplies, chairs, bathing suits and sunscreen and make a day of it.

Note: the county's nudity ordinance is still in effect at this beach so wear less than a bathing suit at your own risk. Most of us will wear the minimum required, which means the skimpiest bathing suit you have. We will be sitting about 1000 yards west of the ramp, where the beach curves to the left. The further west we sit, the lower the risk of offending anyone.

At the end of the day, many of us will drive into Carpinteria to buy dinner and pay with $2 bills (we will provide them) to demonstrate the purchasing power of the local nudists!

Call us at (818) 225-2273 or RSVP to scna@socalnaturist.org.

Thursday, August 21 to Sunday August 24
THE NATURIST SOCIETY’S
ANNUAL WESTERN GATHERING

SUN MEADOWS RESORT, IDAHO

These four days are full of interesting workshops being sponsored by individual clubs and naturist leaders from all over the Western United States. Anyone who has gone to a Gathering before knows it is a great time to see old friends from other nudist groups (and to make new friends!) and to share experiences and advice all can use to make their clubs better.

Those of you who will be attending to open your cars and SUVs to car-pooling (if just to split the gas money!) It’s also a great way to pass the time while traveling to the event. If you want to join this unofficial “ride share” let us know at the SCNA message center: (818) 225-2273.
