May 2010 Calendar
SCNA MONTHLY MEET-UPS

Each month, SCNA hosts a monthly dinner and discussion group at different pizza parlors or restaurants around the greater Los Angeles area. This is a way to introduce new people to naturism and to dispel mistaken impressions that non-nudists may have about us. Anyone with a sincere interest in discussing naturist issues is welcome. This month's Meet-Ups:

Ventura/Santa Barbara: Friday May 7, 6:45PM to 8:30PM
San Fernando Valley: May 11, 6:45PM – 8:30 PM
Pasadena/Glendale: Monday May 17, 6:45PM to 8:30PM
South Bay/Torrance: Wednesday May 26, 6:45PM to 8:30PM

For more information and directions, click link on menu above.

SAT MAY 15, 12:30PM - 6:30PM
LET'S CELEBRATE SPRING!
WEST LA JACUZZI PARTY

MEMBERS: $10, NON-MEMBERS: $15,
AGES 18-25: $5, CHILDREN UNDER 18: FREE
LOCATION: WESTCHESTER (NEAR LAX)

Help us celebrate the return to our “Sun Season” with a party in West LA. SCNA will provide soft drinks. Everyone should bring a side dish to share. Games are a tradition at this location, you may choose to play "Catch Phrase," a popular word game. A Jacuzzi is also available for your enjoyment. Call the SCNA office early at (818) 225-2273 to make your reservation.

RSVP to the club Message Center at (818) 225-2273.

SUNDAY MAY 16, 9:00 AM - 2:0 0PM
BARE TO BREAKERS ANNUAL 5K RUN
LOCATION: SAN FRANCISCO, CA

Despite the annual warning by the police against public nudity, the laws are not enforced in San Francisco, as long as you are not lewd and also are not nude in Golden Gate Park (except to run through it). Several hundred nudists co-mingle each year with the thousands of other runners and crazies costumed (or body painted) in everything imaginable.

This is not an SCNA event. We post this notice as a couirtesy to our members and other web site visitors who might like to attend (and run naked through a city!)

Nudists need to register in advance at the Bare to Breakers website www.baretobreakers.com/Main3.html

As in year’s past, Lupin Lodge in Los Gatos will charter a bus to take nudists to the race and back again, since driving in SF is so insane. Cost is $35 for the ride (and well worth it!). Anyone interested call Cindy at Lupin’s office: (408) 353-9200 as space is limited on the bus.

CELEBRATE MEMORIAL WEEKEND WITH SCNA!

SATURDAY & SUNDAY & MONDAY, MAY 29-30-31
OLIVE DELL NUDIST PARK, COLTON

$16/day/person if on SCNA list (children under 18 free)
You will pay Olive Dell at their entrance gate for this event, not SCNA.

Many members enjoy this annual “Pirates of the Caribbean” Theme weekend.

This year Olive Dell has hired a band of debauched professional pirates to perform for your entetainment. There will be specialty foods and games to fit the occasion.

Saturday afternon there is an auction and flea market, a fortune telling booth, a Walk the Plank Dunk Tank, "Pelt the Pirate" booth, Tug of War, plus a few other surprises so bring some extra cash. Prizes for best costume, so even though this is normally a nude-only resort you are allowed to wear your best piratey gear (except in the pool and jacuzzi) during the day. In fact, if you DON'T wear something piraty you are liable to be thrown into the little jail reserved for uncooperative wenches!

Saturday night is the traditional Pirate's Dinner, complete with Captain Bobby's BBQ Ribs, Buck 'N' Ear Corn on the cob, baked beans, etc. (A vegetarian dish is also available.) Reservations and costs for dinner are separate (RSVP when you arrive.) Afterwards there is a "pirate" theme dance scheduled, costumes also requested.

The resort also has pool table, volleyball, a horseshoe pit, and hiking trails.

Regarding overnight accommodations, Olive Dell has “Birdhouse” cabins available for rent but call ahead with your reservation, as they will sell out early for this weekend. You can also bring your own camping gear, as they also have ample camper/trailer overnight space. Offsite Hotel/motel accommodations are available a few miles away.

For more info and directions, click here. You may contact Olive Dell (909) 825-6619 (email: info@olivedellranch.com)

You MUST sign up in advance to get in at the club rate! Call (818) 225-2273 to RSVP. YOU MUST BE ON OUR SCNA RESERVATION LIST TO GAIN ADMITTANCE. We give them our list the Wednesday night before the event (5/26), so that is your deadline to decide to participate.
