SCNA MONTHLY MEET-UPS

Each month, SCNA hosts a monthly dinner and discussion group at different pizza parlors or restaurants around the greater Los Angeles area. This is a way to introduce new people to naturism and to dispel mistaken impressions that non-nudists may have about us. Anyone with a sincere interest in discussing naturist issues is welcome. Labor Day Weekend: September 3-4-5-6
ANNUAL POLYNESIAN LUAU!
Olive Dell Nudist Park, Colton, CA

Join us at Olive Dell Ranch in Colton for their traditional Labor Day Luau event. The gate fee is discounted for SCNA members to $10 per person per day for this weekend, but ONLY if you are on a list SCNA must submit to Olive Dell by Thursday, 9/2. Otherwise to get in, you will need an AANR card and you will pay the regular $15 per person per day gate fee.

• Saturday will feature a variety of activities during the day plus a live band after dinner.

• Sunday is the main event, the park’s annual Polynesian Dinner Buffet with all the trimmings and entertainment by a troupe of Tahitian dancers and fire-twirlers. This event has a separate cost besides the gate fee:

• $25 single or $45/couple if purchased before August 22.
• $30/single or $55/couple after August 22.
• Kids under 5 are free, Age 5-12 are $5 each.

Advanced tickets can be purchased by directly from Olive Dell at 909-825-6619 or on their web site at http://olivedellranch.com/flyers/luau_tickets.pdf. YOU DO NOT PAY SCNA FOR YOUR LUAU TICKETS! For the Luau, please wear a Hawaiian shirt, lei, grass skirt or straw hat! (Note for first timers: this is a nudist resort, not a clothing optional resort. Except for special events, you are expected to be nude, as dictated by the weather. No clothing is allowed in the swimming pool, Jacuzzi or sauna.)

If you have not been there, the resort has a great restaurant on site with meals averaging $6/person. We have been told the overnight "birdhouse" cabins are selling out fast so call NOW if you want one or, if they are sold out, to be put on the waiting list. There are also RV hookups and camping sites available. (Call Olive Dell directly at 909-825-6619 to reserve.)

Call SCNA at (818) 225-2273 to get your name on the entrance list! We also have the names of some nearby motels for overnight accommodations if you do not wish to RV or camp. Directions to Olive Dell will be given to those who RSVP a few days before the event.

Driving Directions to Olive Dell: Take Interstate 10 Fwy from Los Angeles to the 215 and go South. Exit Washington St and go east about 3 miles to Reche Canyon Road. Turn right (south) onto Reche Cyn, drive about 5 miles to Keissel Rd and turn left at the Olive Dell sign. Go up the paved/unpaved road about a mile to the gate. Use the phone in the red mailbox to have someone check you in if nobody is at the registration house.

Ages 18-25: $5/person and Children under 18 are free.

What better way to celebrate the end of summer than with an Ice Cream Social? The club will provide the basic flavors (and some yogurt for those who must go sugar-free) and a large variety of toppings - build your own sundae!

Club also will provide soft drinks/water. Please bring a side dish to share. When you RSVP we will call you back and ask which food item you will bring so we can avoid duplications.

Because this is in a backyard, space is limited to 40, so be sure to call in your RSVP to (818) 225-2273.

Gate Fee: $15/person/day Plus $3 donation payable to Helen to cover her costs.

This is not an SCNA club event, but since so many of us are former members of Elysium Fields, we wanted to alert you to a reunion party being planned for the weekend of Sept 24-26 at the Glen Eden Sun Club in Corona. GE management has agreed to allow entry to everyone on the Elysium Guest List, even if they are married and not bringing their spouse. NOTE: Anyone who is married and NOT attending with spouse, must have this noted on the list. You will NOT be admitted without spouse if name and notation is not on the list. Gate fee is $15 per day instead of the usual $25 for non-GE members.

This event is hosted by Helen Cherry at her mobile home site, #293.

It will start Friday evening at 7 pm and finish with a "leftover's dinner" on Sunday evening. Brunch and dinner Saturday and Sunday will be served and she is asking for potluck donations. GE has a dance on Saturday night. RSVP at (818) 225-2273 if you want to come as we need to submit the list to Helen no later than Wednesday night, 9/9. THE NATURIST SOCIETY’S
ANNUAL WESTERN GATHERING
DE ANZA SPRINGS, JUCUMBA CA

The four days are full of interesting workshops being sponsored by individual clubs and naturist leaders from all over the Western United States. Anyone who has gone to a Gathering before knows it is a great time to see old friends from other nudist groups (and to make new friends!) and to share experiences and advice all can use to make their clubs better. SCNA is participating at this four-day annual meeting, hosting several “fun events” and several workshops.

We also encourage those of you who will be attending to open your cars and SUVs to car-pooling (if just to split the gas money!) It’s also a great way to pass the time while traveling to the event.
