By royal order of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth I, our gracious monarch, has decreed that feasting and pleasure shall commerce in the month of May. For the forty-first year in our village of Chipping-under-Oakwood, the gates will swing wide to welcome the finest artisans and craftsfolk. Each feasting table boasts of delicious and hearty tastes from all around the shire. Every goblet shall be filled to overflowing with goodly spirits and beverages.

Each guild, from swords makers to danse troupes, does make public its strength and talent. Each dweller in our village shall raise a lusty huzzah for all of the players and jousters who participate in our gaming and pageant battles on our outdoor stages, village streets and great arenas. Long may she reign in Majesty glorious ever victorious, GOD SAVE THE QUEEN.

Into this festivity on Sunday, May 25, did venture Ricc & Sherri, Gary & Patty, and Le & Judy, known to be of your acquaintance, for an entire day of revelry.

The first stop was at the Cinnamon Buns vendor then on to the hawkers of the finest turkey legs in all of merry Olde England. Many were the activities even for the wee tot to the oldest codger. There were games as the Axe Toss or Dragon’s Maze or Robin Hood kid wanders. All the day long, Robin Hood did take the kiddies to see the sights of the land. Twelve stages did reward us for our viewing. Magicians, jugglers, belly dancers, jousts and members of Clan MacColin of the far distant Scotland did pleasure us with their frolics. Ahh, but we be of high sophisticate, did repair to the Rogue’s Reef Stage, where we entertained by “The Belles of Bedlam,” “Michael Wordsmythe’s Bawdy Tales,” and “The Poxy Boggards.”

Artisans of the realm included casters of fine ceramics, spinners and weavers of the finest cloth, purveyors of fine arts and sculptures, blacksmythes offering superior swords and shields, and merchants and traders from far & wide exhibiting metal and pewter utensils.

The feasting and pleasure shalt continue on each weekend until June 15 from ten of the clock in the morn ‘til 6 in the eve at the Lady Glen Helen’s Regional Park.
