|
The stated mission of SCNA is to promote and encourage clothing-optional recreation, education and personal growth opportunities for all ages.
Outside the family and church, no medium has proved more important to establish and verify our American cultural values than the entertainment industry. From the days of Mae West and the Hayes Code to the current antics of Madonna and Janet Jackson, our movies and television shows have told us how to feel about social nudity and body acceptance. For the most part, nudity is always portrayed as sexual foreplay, as something sleezy or to be snickered at.
THE MOVIE BUFF will review the current entertainment media for signs of positive messages about nudity and clothing-optionality where the unclothed human body is celebrated, where human sensuality is accepted, and where personal choice is respected. We will review movies, TV, live theater, books, and whatever else comes across our desk in hopes of pointing out to the public which of these portray a fair and balanced representation of our lifestyle.
We welcome any comment you may wish to contribute to our efforts.
SCNA Rating System (1 to 5 stars):
Rating stars are awarded based not just upon the quality of the production but also how the nudity is portrayed. Lower scores are given for pixilation and where the nudity is just a pretext for sex. Higher scores are awarded when unashamed nudity and positive body acceptance themes are a part of storyline, and when both men and women are seen nude in a non-sexual context.
