SCNA MONTHLY MEET-UPS

Each month, SCNA hosts a monthly dinner and discussion group at different pizza parlors or restaurants around the greater Los Angeles area. This is a way to introduce new people to naturism and to dispel mistaken impressions that non-nudists may have about us. Anyone with a sincere interest in discussing naturist issues is welcome. This month's Meet-Ups:

San Fernando Valley: Tuesday December 10, 6:45PM – 8:30 PM
No Meetups in November or December in Pasadena, West LA, South Bay and Ventura.

NUDE CO-ED YOGA!

Location: Canoga Park
Saturday, December 7, 10 Am - 11 Am

NO MINIMUM, MAXIMUM 20 STUDENTS

No Atwater Village Yoga class this month.

These classes are especially useful for people who suffer from low self-esteem and poor body image because it is done in a safe, nurturing environment. But it is open to anyone who wishes to discover an entirely new way of looking at your own body, spiritually and physically.

PAY HERE FOR 12/15 HOLIDAY BRUNCH PARTY

Sunday December 15, Noon - 4PM
HOLIDAY LUNCH AND GIFT EXCHANGE PARTY
$25/person (kids under 18 are $10.00 each)

Location: Mandarin King Restaurant
17092 Devonshire Bl. Northridge CA 91324

This is a clothed event, in fact, “business-casual” attire is recommended. This is also the one party each year where an individual can feel comfortable bringing their non-nudist spouse or partner who would not otherwise share an event with us. The idea is to provide a non-threatening opportunity to have them meet the group.

1. Choice of Four Main Dishes
plus Appetizers, Sides and Salads on a turning buffet wheel in the center of each table.
Water and tea included, soft drinks, beer, and wine available but guests will be charged separately.

2. Annual Awards: This lunch is our opportunity to thank those members who have volunteered above and beyond the call of duty during the past year. Our award ceremony will be the highlight, as it is every year.

3. White Elephant Gift Exchange: For those of you who may not know, these are usually old nick-knack items that have been stored in your garage or attic. It's mainly for laughs, so something outrageous is okay. You can also wrap something that is nice that you just don’t need it any more. We really don’t want you buying anything, but if you decide to purchase a small gift anyway, spend no more than $10 max. Your gift MUST be wrapped to participate, and that means 2 gifts if you are a couple. There should be NO TAGS attached to say who it is from!

4. There will be a raffle drawing for some additional prizes.

PAY PAL IS AVAILABLE FOR PAYMENTS ON OUR WEB SITE
OPEN TO MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS

Planetarium Prices:

DUE TO CLOUDY SKIES, ARCTIC WINDS, AND THE PROBABILITY OF RAIN THIS WEEKEND, WE HAVE RELUCTANTLY DECIDED TO CANCEL THIS GRIFFITH PARK EVENT. WE WILL RESCHEDULE IT FOR THE EARLY PART OF NEXT YEAR. THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING.

Saturday December 7, 1PM - 9PM
FIELD TRIP TO GRIFFITH PARK OBSERVATORY
OPEN TO MEMBERS, NON-MEMBERS AND FAMILY MEMBERS!
FREE Admission to exhibits (see Planetarium show costs at left)

This is a chance for the whole family to look at the Sun, Moon, visible planets and other objects in the sky, to try out a variety of telescopes, and to talk to knowledgeable amateur astronomers about the sky and their equipment. Of course this is a clothed-event (and an evening sweater or jacket is recommended after dusk) for those interested SCNA members who would like to get together and do something a little different.

The 1PM start time is so you and your family can enjoy all the exhibits inside the observatory. Tickets for the 3:15pm planetarium show go on sale at 1:30pm. Please buy your tickets early in case there is a sellout. We will all meet by the front entrance no later than 2:45PM so we can go into the planetarium auditorium and be seated together.

Note: We originally planned this activity for this date so we could also observe Comet ISON, but, alas, it seems to have disintegrated as it passed too close to the sun (guess it should have been named Comet Icarus, but I digress). The Friends of the Observatory group will be hosting their monthly Public Star Party on the lawn this day, so there should be plenty of other celestial bodies to observe instead.

Planetarium Information:

Live Planetarium presentations are scheduled every 60 to 90 minutes. Ten shows are offered each weekend day (Saturday-Sunday), with the first show at 10:45 a.m. and the last show at 8:45 p.m. VISITOR NOTICE: Children under 5 are admitted ONLY to the first show each day (10:45 a.m. on weekends).

Show tickets may be purchased ONLY at the Observatory, only for that day's shows. Tickets are available at the main ticket counter inside or at automated ticket machines around the building. No advance purchases or phone transactions are possible at any time. Tickets may be purchased with either cash or credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, and Discover).

TICKETS AND SEATING: Tickets for each show are sold until 10 minutes before the listed start time of that show, unless tickets have been sold out prior to that time. Once you have purchased planetarium tickets, there will be NO refunds (unless the show is canceled). You must be in line for your show at least 10 minutes before the show time printed on your ticket. There will be building announcements as a reminder, but you are ultimately responsible for being on time. There will be absolutely no late admission to the theater.

This is a fun event where members can feel comfortable bringing their non-nudist spouse, partner, or children who would not otherwise share an event with us.
