June 2014 Calendar
SCNA MONTHLY MEET-UPS

Each month, SCNA hosts a monthly (clothed) dinner and discussion group at different public restaurants around the greater Los Angeles area. This is a way to introduce new people to naturism and to dispel mistaken impressions that non-nudists may have about us. This meeting is also a required pre-requisite before we can invite you to one of our clothing-optional parties. Anyone with a sincere interest in discussing naturist issues is welcome. This month's Meet-Ups:

San Fernando Valley: Tuesday June 10, 6:45PM – 8:30 PM
Pasadena/Glendale: Monday June 16, 6:45PM to 8:30PM
South Bay/Torrance: Thursday June 26, 6:45PM – 8:30 PM
Ventura County: Friday, June 13, 6:45PM – 8:30 PM
Carpintera/Santa Barbara: Tuesday, June 17, 6:45PM – 8:30 PM

CO-ED NUDE YOGA!

We have two new instructors in two locations:

Canoga Park (serving the San Fernando Valley):
SATURDAY, JUNE 7, 2014, 10AM – 11AM

$15 PER PERSON
MAX 20 STUDENTS

These classes are especially useful for people who suffer from low self-esteem and poor body image because it is done in a safe, nurturing environment. But it is open to anyone who wishes to discover an entirely new way of looking at your own body, spiritually and physically.

Los Angeles Nude Bike Riders
pose near downtown,2011.
Saturday June 14, 1PM-5PM
WORLD NUDE BIKE RIDE DAY
GLOBAL PROTEST AGAINST FOSSIL FUELS
& TO PROMOTE BIKE SAFETY IN LOS ANGELES

This is not an SCNA-sponsored event. Members may wish to participate in a 10-mile ride through Los Angeles where clothing is optional. Thousands of bicycle riders in over 200 cities worldwide are expected to participate in this annual Nude Bike Ride event where law enforcement officials have agreed to “look the other way” and not enforce anti-nudity laws during the 2-hour ride.

If you do not want to go nude, another idea is to apply body paint before the race to cover "private" areas. Others may choose to hang signs over their bodies so their skin can only be seen in profile. Women may choose to wear large band-aids over their nipple area to stay in strict compliance with the county ordinance. The goal is to get the message out in a fun way that will bring minimum discomfort to un-prepared onlookers as we streak by.

This is NOT an SCNA-sponsored event so do not call our office to RSVP. Be advised GE’s policy toward admittance of single men or men without their wives is erratic and often hostile, even if you carry an AANR card. Saturday, June 21, Meet at 10:30 AM
Nude Hike/Camping Trip to Deep Creek
Location: Bowen Ranch, San Bernardino Mountains

SCNA in joining the Camping Bares and Orange County nudist clubs in a joint event at Deep Creek hot springs. There is no charge for this event but you are responsible for your own camping equipment, food and drink to pack in (and to pack out any leftovers!) You may stay for Saturday only, or stay overnight along with perhaps 20 other nudists (the number we usually average on these trips.)

There is no tenting allowed near the springs. We hike in at around 10:30 am Saturday, and set up tent camping next to our cars overnight that evening after a great day at the springs. This makes it easy for day visitors to join the campers. $ 10 for overnight camping per person, $ 5 per person for daytime parking. pay at the Bowen Ranch entrance, exact change in envelope with license number, if no one there to collect your fees.

A 4-wheel drive is the best for travel, so RSVP early to (818) 225-2273 so we can get a head count and arrange for car pooling.

CARPINTERIA INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE
Location: Carpinteria, CA

No Fee to Participate but Bring Extra Cash for Food and Festival Souvenirs!

SCNA and Friends of Bates Beach have been invited to participate in the annual car parade down Linden Avenue in the heart of Carpinteria, where four lucky members can sit inside and wave to the crowd. This is a big moment for us as it is only the second time a nude advocacy group has been allowed in the parade, thanks to our many years of service as members of the Chamber of Commerce there.

Come enjoy the carnival and events during the day, buy you food and souvenirs using $2 bills (the official nudist curency in town) then cheer us on as you watch the parade from the sidewalk.

RSVP early to (818) 225-2273 so we can get a head count and arrange for car pooling.
